Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – November 22, 2025 – Pakistani security forces have successfully concluded a major intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the elimination of eight terrorists. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, announced the development earlier today, underscoring the military’s unwavering commitment to stamping out terrorism.
The operation, which was conducted on November 21st, was launched following credible intelligence reports about the presence of militants, referred to by the state as “Khawarij belonging to Indian-proxy Fitna-al-Khawarij.” The term Fitna-al-Khawarij is used by Pakistani authorities to describe terrorists affiliated with groups like the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Intense Fire Exchange
According to the ISPR statement, security forces approached the suspected hideout, leading to an intense exchange of fire with the terrorists. The coordinated action by both the security forces and law enforcement agencies resulted in the successful neutralization of all eight militants.
A significant cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorists. The ISPR noted that these individuals had been “actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces, law enforcement agencies (LEAs), and target-killing of innocent civilians.”
Azm-e-Istehkam Campaign Continues
The successful IBO is being cited as a testament to the intensified, intelligence-driven operations being conducted under the umbrella of the national counter-terrorism vision, “Azm-e-Istehkam.”
The military’s media wing stressed that the meticulously coordinated and synchronized security measures are designed to restrict the operational mobility of militant elements, systematically dismantle their facilitation networks, and curb their ability to reorganize.
“The relentless counter-terrorism campaign under vision Azm-e-Istehkam… by security forces and LEAs of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the ISPR statement affirmed.
Sanitization operations are currently underway in the surrounding areas to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining militant presence.
Leadership Commendation
The successful operation was swiftly praised by the country’s political leadership. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for their bravery and professionalism in conducting the operation against the militants in Bannu, reiterating the government’s resolve to achieve peace and stability.
The operation comes amid a recent spike in terrorist incidents, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, highlighting the crucial need for the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
